A trip across the state to face a fellow top-10 opponent, and one that boasted a quarterback with video game statistics?
No problem for the Bellevue Wolverines.
Shadle Park entered Saturday afternoon’s semi-final averaging better than 40 points per game, but managed nowhere near that against the five-time defending state champs in a 66-0 Bellevue win.
A recovered fumble on the opening kick set the tone for another dominating performance, as the Wolverines led 28-0 after the first quarter and 52-0 at the halftime break.
The next stop for the Wolverines is once again the Tacoma Dome, where it will be a rematch of last year’s championship game against Eastside Catholic at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
The Crusaders beat O’Dea 28-14 in the other semi-final to punch a second straight title game ticket. Bellevue won last year’s game 35-3 to make it five straight crowns.
