Area players selected in MLB draft

Kirk Wetmore, a left-handed pitcher for the NWAACC-champion Bellevue College Bulldogs, was drafted today by the Cleveland Indians in the second day of the Major League Baseball draft.

Wetmore was selected in the 11th round with the 335th pick. The 6-foot-2 lefty went 6-2 with a 2.89 ERA this season for the Bulldogs, striking out 85 and walking only 28 batters.

Other area players drafted were former Bulldog Sean Teague, a right-handed pitcher who spent the past spring pitching for Southern Poly Tech in Georgia, who was drafted by the Marlins, and Bulldogs centerfielder Mike Richardson (Cincinnati).
