Parents left without Bellevue School District accountability | Letter

As a parent of a child in the Bellevue School District, as a citizen of Bellevue and as a small business owner in Bellevue, I would like to alert you to concerns with the Bellevue School District. Puesta del Sol, the Spanish language immersion elementary school, is suffering from teacher to student ratios of 30:1 in all fifth grade classrooms this year.

This appears to have been a deliberate decision by BSD, and despite approaching our concerns in a stepwise fashion, parents have been left without transparency or accountability from the district on this issue. While our concern is school-specific, the district’s clear lack of transparency to parents goes directly against their stated pillars, and their choices for our students go directly against the BSD mission. This concerns us, and should concern BSD parents globally as well as all Bellevue residents who support our schools. We hope others will join us in asking BSD to honor their mission, as well as their pillars including transparency, accountability and equity for all students.
