Kudos to the Museum of Flight for snagging one of the key pieces of the space era. Now that the Space Shuttle flights are ending, NASA has found new homes for them.

Despite the obvious connection to space and space history in this region, we didn’t score one of the shuttles itself. But what we will get may prove more interesting and educational.

We’re getting the full-fuselage shuttle trainer that NASA used to help train the astronauts.

If you think this is second-rate, think again. Yes, the actual shuttles would be thrilling to have, but it only would be something to stare at; we wouldn’t actually get to go inside it to see and feel what the astronauts did.

Not so with the full-fuselage trainer. It will enable all of us to experience some of the feeling of being on a shuttle itself.

We eagerly await its arrival. We’ll meet you at the head of the line.
