Leif Aaron Johnson

Leif Aaron Johnson was born in San Jose, California to Tyr Vern Johnson and Rae Johnson on May 2, 1953. He died unexpectedly on January 2, 2011.Leif grew up on a dairy farm, graduated from Leland High School in San Jose, CA, and studied art before working as a journeyman carpenter. Leif moved into design work and returned to study at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco graduating with a degree in Interior Design. Working as an architectural lighting designer he received several awards before becoming a residential caretaker in Medina, WA.Leif was a good person willing to extend himself to family, friends, and strangers alike. He was a talented artist and enjoyed photography, writing, playing drums, music, and art from all genres. Leif was equally adept at the cerebral world of design and the concrete world of construction. As an active member of East Shore Unitarian Church, Leif put to good use those talents. In his covenant circle he was appreciated for his thoughtful insights on the tough moral, ethical, and social challenges of our time. He was well known for his pragmatic solving of any sort of construction problem with just the right solution and just as often the right part supplied as well. Leif is survived by his daughters, Colette Noel Johnson and Emma Rae Johnson; his former wife, Betsy Zorn; his partner, Laura Klepfer; his sisters, Erika Wilson (James Wilson) and Ingrid Minor (Lloyd Minor); his nephew, Aaron Johnson.A celebration of his life will be held January 29, 2011 at East Shore Unitarian Church at 11 AM.
