Every spring, the Bellevue Family YMCA invites kids and families from the community to participate in Healthy Kids Day, a national event to promote youth health and wellness. This year’s event, on Saturday, April 18, will feature activities and games for kids, plus health and wellness resources for families.
Some of the activities this year include Forces of Fun Obstacle Course, Champion Bounce House, Make & Take Superhero Masks and a Superhero Scavenger Hunt.
Experts say school-age kids should engage in physical activities for at least one hour every day to be healthy. Studies show that almost two-thirds of the nation’s youth are not getting the suggested amount of physical activity for good health. More than nine million children in the United States are either obese or overweight.
Healthy Kids Day will take place on-site at the Bellevue Family YMCA at 14230 Bel Red Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free. The first 100 kids will receive a free T-shirt.
