Washington State Department of Transportation bridge crews will perform monthly maintenance work on the State Route 520 Evergreen Point floating bridge early Thursday morning.

Maintenance openings of the bridge drawspan begin Thursday, June 10 at 2:30 a.m. They will end at 5 a.m. During this time, drivers can expect the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 30 minutes at a time. Crews will conduct monthly safety checks and test the bridge drawspan to ensure proper working order.

Drivers will be alerted to possible delays by electronic signs on highways that lead to the bridge.

Drivers can take I-90 across Lake Washington to avoid a bridge opening. However, drivers should be aware of construction that will close up to two lanes of westbound I-90 near East Mercer Way beginning at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 9 through 5 a.m. Thursday. Additionally, a flammable cargo restriction is in place while the fire suppression systems in the I-90 Mount Baker Tunnel and Mercer Island Lid undergo routine maintenance tests.

Drivers transporting flammable materials on westbound I-90 must exit at Island Crest Way (Exit #7) on Mercer Island. Eastbound drivers transporting flammable materials must exit at Rainier Avenue South (Exit #3) in Seattle.
