Women in Media topic of forum in Bellevue

The League of Women Voters of Greater Seattle will present a forum on the role of "Women in Media" from 7:30-9 p.m. March 3 St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Bellevue (opposite Bellevue Community College). League Forums are free and open to the public.

Pioneer photojournalist Margaret-Bourke-White’s work during the Great Depression and World War II will be reviewed by retired University of Washington professor Lynne Iglitzin followed by two panelists from the organization ReelGrrls. Karen Hirsch, the development director, and youth producer Julia Levy will discuss their work and screen The 5th Star, a film created for the 100th anniversary of womens’ suffrage in Washington state.

Former National Public Radio (NPR) reporter Joanne Silberner, now Artist in Residence in the UW Department of Communications, will relate what it was like to report for NPR for 18 years, on health policy in particular.
