Beginning this year, the state requires all boaters ages 21-35 to have boater’s education, and a Washington State Boaterís card. The Bellevue Sail & Power Squadron will offer a number of classes and seminars in Bellevue, Kirkland, Issaquah, Sammamish and rural King County.
A 5-week America’s Boating Class 3rd Edition, starting Jan. 20, will be offered from 7-9 p.m. at the Newport Yacht Club. Covered topics include: Aids to Navigation, Boat Terms & Types, Boat Handling, Adverse Conditions, Navigation Rules, Tides & Currents, and Government Regulations.
The course meets the educational standards of the National Association of Boating Law Administrators. Everyone passing the final test can attain the Washington State Boater’s Card.
