Winter boating classes and seminars offered

A 5-week America's Boating Class 3rd Edition, starting Jan. 20, will be offered from 7-9 p.m. at the Newport Yacht Club.

Beginning this year, the state requires all boaters ages 21-35 to have boater’s education, and a Washington State Boaterís card. The Bellevue Sail & Power Squadron will offer a number of classes and seminars in Bellevue, Kirkland, Issaquah, Sammamish and rural King County.

A 5-week America’s Boating Class 3rd Edition, starting Jan. 20, will be offered from 7-9 p.m. at the Newport Yacht Club. Covered topics include: Aids to Navigation, Boat Terms & Types, Boat Handling, Adverse Conditions, Navigation Rules, Tides & Currents, and Government Regulations.

The course meets the educational standards of the National Association of Boating Law Administrators. Everyone passing the final test can attain the Washington State Boater’s Card. Those who pass the eight-hour class can can attain the Washington State Boater’s Card.
