A man believed to be in his late 60s to early 70s was transported to Harborview Medical Center Thursday after his pickup truck collided with the Extended Stay America hotel in Factoria and caught fire.

Bellevue Police Ofc. Carla Iafrate said police and fire crews responded to the hotel on the 3700 block of 132nd Avenue Southeast around 11:45 a.m. and found the man outside of his pickup with burns to his body sustained during the vehicle fire. Two samaritans had pulled the man from his pickup before law enforcement and fire arrived, most likely saving his life, Iafrate said. One man who assisted the victim was transported to Overlake Medical Center for possible smoke inhalation issues.

Police are unsure where the man was traveling when his vehicle collided with the hotel, and believe he may have been a guest there, Iafrate said. Damage to the building was minor and bushes near the pickup were visibly scorched.
