Traffic | Street, lane closures ahead for downtown and Northup Way in Bellevue

Travelers in coming days will encounter lane, roadway and intersection closures on 112th Avenue, Main Street and Northeast Eighth Street, as well as Northup Way in the Bel-Red area.

Main Street downtown will be closed in both directions as it approaches 112th Avenue, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 1 as crews grind and pave the intersection. The work is a continuation of a project by Puget Sound Energy to install a 16-inch natural gas pipe under city streets.

The busy stretch of downtown roadway along 112th Avenue Northeast from Northeast Eighth through the intersection at Northeast 10th Street will be closed from 9 a.m. on Aug. 1 to 6 a.m. on Aug. 17. The work is part of a project by the state Department of Transportation to extend Northeast 10th Street east over I-405.

Workers will reduce Northup Way to one lane in each direction between 120th Avenue Northeast and 124th Avenue Northeast from Aug. 7 until mid-September. During that time crews will upgrade the storm water system and pave the street. Also in September, a full closure of 124th Avenue between Northup Way and Northeast 18th Street will take place while crews repave that roadway.

Sidewalks, curbs, gutters and other improvements are being made to the north side of Northeast Eighth Street between 96th Avenue Northeast and Lake Washington Boulevard. Starting Monday, the westbound lane will be closed on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sidewalk project will still be in progress in the fall, when all of Eighth Street will be closed between 92nd Avenue Northeast and Lake Washington Boulevard to complete utility work and repave the surface.
