Toy drive begins Saturday at Bellevue fire stations

Bellevue’s nine fire stations will be collecting toy donations for families in need from Nov. 21 through Dec. 7.

The toys will go to children at the Crossroads Community Center’s annual holiday party, which takes place Dec. 15 from 4:30-7 p.m.

More than 1,500 families received help from the center last year, and the number is expected to be higher this year as Eastside human-services organizations are reporting unprecedented demand for assistance due to the recession.

Suggested donations include new, unwrapped toys, books, game, gift certificates and sports equipment.

Plush animals and gift certificates are needed for infants and toddlers, while gift certificates for clothing restaurants, malls and music stores are recommended for teens.

Monetary donations are also accepted.
