Symposium set on addiction, recovery in Jewish community

Bellevue’s Temple B’nai Torah will host a full-day symposium on The Journey of Addiction & Recovery in our Jewish Community on Sunday, March 29.

Keynote speakers are Rabbi Mark Borowitz, spiritual leader of Beit T’shuvah, a treatment center in Los Angeles catering to Jewish addicts and alcoholics; and Claudia Black, social worker, whose expertise is on addiction and the family, including the impact on children of every age.

Other guest speakers throughout the day include:

Andrew J. Saxon, M.D., UW Professor, Dept. of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences; Director, Addictions Treatment Center (VA Puget Sound); Director, Addiction Psychiatry Residency Program, (UW)

Daniel E. Wolf, D.O., board-certified psychiatrist with 25 years of clinical experience evaluating and treating teens and adults dealing with substance abuse and/or psychiatric disorders 

Joyce Sundin, NCAXC II, BRI II, board registered intervention specialist who pioneered the concept and benefits of “intervening” in this region.

Continuing education credits available for counselors and social workers.

Cost is $30 general admission, $50 professional credit registration.

Advance registration is required, space is limited.
