Fifth-grade students at St. Louise Parish School in Bellevue welcomed famous people from history into the classroom recently as part of the annual “History-Maker” project.

The presentation, organized by teachers Mary Talevich and Mike Fuerte, has the students select a  famous inventor or politician in American history. Not only to the students become “experts” on their own history-makers, but also are exposed to an additional 50+ famous Americans as well. Students create the scrapbook, dress in costume as their famous history-maker, and interview a number of other students on History-Maker Hall of Fame day.

The project begins with the students learning how to create an accurate and well-written scrapbook-format report. The final grade is weighed both on their scrapbook with historical information, and their vocal and visual re-enactment of their famous US history-maker.
