St. Louise students egg-cited about rocket launch | Video

Seventh grade students from St. Louise Parish School launched water-propelled rockets with egg “astronauts” as part of a school project in Bellevue on Tuesday, May 26, 2009.

Students studied astronomy, energy and motion for the sixth annual project culminating in the practical application of the concepts learned.

Each student designed a rocket and 10 were chosen to be built. Students worked in small groups with each having a specific job such as engineer, public relations, accountant and technical illustrator. Project goals included building a rocket which would fly high, fly far and provide a safe landing for an egg “astronaut.” This year a distance record was set with a 79-meter flight and only two of the 10 eggs launched survived.
