Six receive Merit scholarships

Six Bellevue students have won corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship awards financed by about 200 corporations, company foundations, and other business organizations.

Six Bellevue students have won corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship awards financed by about 200 corporations, company foundations, and other business organizations.

The students were selected from students who advanced to the Finalist level in the National Merit Scholarship competition and met criteria of their scholarship sponsors. Corporate sponsors provide National Merit Scholarships for Finalists who are children of their employees, who are residents of communities the company serves, or who plan to pursue college majors or careers the sponsor wishes to encourage.

Other scholarship winners will be announced at a later date.

Bellevue winners are:

Maximilian H. Chen, Lakeside School, Seattle. Probable career field: Public Health; Novartis scholarship

Graham M. Jordan, Interlake High School. Provable career field: Finance; Boeing scholarship

Margit K. Lund, International School. Probable career field: Diplomatic Service; Boeing scholarship

Kayla Miller, Interlake High School. Probable career field: Biochemistry; Boeing scholarship

Shannon Ren, Newport High School. Probable career field: Computer Science; Boeing scholarship

Haoming Wang, Interlake High School. Probable career field: Law; Boeing scholarship
