For the past 55 years, Christ the King Lutheran Church, located in the Eastgate area of Bellevue, has sponsored Boy Scout Troop 438. The scouts hold their weekly meetings and activities throughout the year at this facility.

On Sept. 24, Hayes Engevik, a freshman at Sammamish High School and a member of the troop, completed his Eagle Scout project at the church, saving it an estimated $1,000.

The church recently had its upper and lower parking lots repaired and sealed, an improvement, but the parking stalls no longer could be seen. Engevik, a Life Scout, organized 14 scouts and adults who spent about 80 hours to paint the curbs that surrounded the parking lots, add new parking stall striping, add directional arrows to exit and enter the lot, and provide three clear disabled parking areas for those who need assistance.

Miller Paint of Georgetown in Seattle supplied the paint and supplies for the project.
