A Salt Lake City man who was not wearing his seat belt died at the scene of a car accident on I-405 early on Sept. 9.

The man, identified by the Washington State Patrol as Kyle David Sire, was headed southbound on I-405 just south of 70th Street when the accident occurred.

Sire reportedly lost control of his vehicle in a construction zone on I-405 and struck a makeshift barrier. His was the only vehicle involved.

It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

“We did have reports of the subject driving erratically prior to collision, but that could be because of a medical issue, could be he fell asleep, it could be drugs or alcohol, we just don’t know yet,” said State Trooper Chris Webb.

Sire, 36, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his car. He died at the scene.
