Robber hits downtown Bellevue bank

A Key Bank branch at 1055 Bellevue Way was robbed around 3:30 p.m. on Monday. According to witnesses, a man entered the bank and handed a note to the teller demanding money. The note implied that he had a gun, although no one saw the weapon. The suspect fled on foot with around $3,000, according to police. He is still at large.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5-foot-9, with a thin build, blond hair, and stubble. He was wearing a brown hunting-type jacket over a gray hooded sweatshirt at the time of the robbery.

Five police cruisers were at the scene at 4 p.m., and police were taking statements from witnesses.

The doors of the bank were locked.
