Registration has opened for the inaugural Newcastle 5K Run/Walk. The event takes place Saturday, August 29 at 9 a.m.

Participants will start at Lake Boren Park in Newcastle and follow the water line to May Creek Park before turning back and ending at Lake Boren. The cost is $25 per person, or $20 each for a team of four.

The Newcastle 5K is operated by the non-profit Newcastle Running Club in conjunction with the city of Newcastle. Profits will be used to fund future Newcastle runs, as well as a donation to the Hazen High cross country and track programs.
