Candidates for city and county offices and local elected officials are invited to attend a half-day housing issues briefings on May 29. The program, presented for the 15th year by the Seattle-King County Association of REALTORS, will be held at the SKCAR building in the Eastgate/Factoria area of Bellevue (12410 S.E. 32nd Street, Suite 100).
The complimentary briefing, scheduled from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., is designed to give candidates an overview of local and regional housing-related issues, along with information about the REALTOR endorsement and candidate funding process.
Unlike previous years that featured presentations by housing specialists from SKCAR, this year’s program will include three panels of industry and governmental experts. Panelists will discuss governing with fewer dollars, insights on the housing recovery, and housing-related implications of climate change. Realtors will provide an overview of the Association’s “Quality of Life” initiatives, its Environmental Council and its policy concerns at the local level.
Association representatives will explain SKCAR’s candidate endorsement process, which includes interviews, candidate ratings, funding and other support services Realtors provide to endorsed candidates.
The May 29 session includes a continental breakfast and box lunch.
Due to space limitations, candidates are asked to make reservations by phone or e-mail to David Crowell, SKCAR’s director of governmental and public affairs. To RSVP by phone, 1.800.540.3277; e-mail reservations may be sent to DCrowell@NWrealtor.com.
