Proposals would add express bus service to Bellevue

Sound Transit will hold an open house in Bellevue to gather input on the proposals for expanding express bus service as part of the Sound Transit 2 plan that voters approved in November.

The meeting takes place 3-6 p.m., Feb. 10 at the Bellevue Transit Center—Rider Services Building (10850 N.E. Sixth St.).

Sound Transit 2 calls for 100,000 additional bus-service hours per year.

The Sound Transit Board is considering a proposal to phase in the additions by 2010 at the regular service-change intervals. The agency is targeting corridors with the highest ridership increases in 2008.

Changes will begin taking place in June.

According to the proposal, the affected east King County routes would include 560 West Seattle-Sea-Tac-Bellevue; 564 Auburn-Overlake; and 565 Federal Way-Overlake.

Further additions would increase service on ST Express routes 532 Everett-Bellevue; 535 Lynnwood-Bellevue; and 550 Bellevue-Seattle.

More service additions on several of these routes are proposed for September 2009.
