Projects to impact traffic on Factoria Blvd., 124th Ave. NE

Projects in the city’s north end and in the Factoria area will disrupt traffic in the coming days.

Projects in the city’s north end and in the Factoria area will disrupt traffic in the coming days. Here’s a rundown of the work.

Factoria Blvd. repaving: Crews working for the city of Bellevue are scheduled to repave Factoria Blvd. from Coal Creek Parkway through Southeast 41st Street on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 21 and 22, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Motorists should expect long delays and are urged to be extra cautious in the construction area.

The east side of Factoria Blvd. will be repaved on Saturday and the west side will be repaved on Sunday. Two-way traffic will be maintained, but with only one lane open in each direction. Police officers will assist flaggers at traffic signals from the entrance to Factoria Mall to Coal Creek Parkway.

This work is part of Bellevue’s annual overlay program, in which a small portion of the city’s street system is repaved each year in order to prevent a full replacement that can cost up to three times more than repaving. This year, about 28 lane miles of roadway will be repaved at several different locations, mostly in the area south of Interstate 90.

124th Avenue Northeast electrical work: State Department of Transportation crews are slated to shut down a section of 124th Avenue Northeast, just south of SR 520, around-the-clock, from Monday, Aug. 23, to Thursday, Aug. 26. Detour routes will be posted; drivers are urged to slow down and use caution navigating around the closure.

Workers will fully close 124th Avenue Northeast for several hundred feet, from Northup Way to just north of Northeast 18th Place, the entrance to Metro Transit’s bus base. A second, longer closure at the same location is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 13, to Sunday, Sept. 26.

The closures are related to WSDOT’s Bellevue Braids project, designed to improve safety and reduce congestion on Interstate 405, from downtown Bellevue to SR 520. Crews must close 124th Avenue Northeast to replace an electrical tower and transfer power lines to a new pole. Residents and businesses will not lose electricity during the work.
