Bellevue police are looking for a 24-year-old man who has been missing for more than a week.

Police said Eugene Wekesa has been missing since Nov. 24 when he was seen leaving his residence at the 15200 block of Northeast 16th Place. Reports indicate that he was likely headed to the Crossroads Shopping Center.

“He went shopping for his mom the night before Thanksgiving, went home and dropped off all the groceries,” said Bellevue Detective Tory Mangione. “He left his wallet, keys and cell phone at home and said he was leaving and never came back.”

Wekesa is described as a homebody. He is a student at Bellevue Community College and works a night job on the weekend. Family members told police Wekesa has never left without telling anyone where he is going. Police said there is no indication of foul play at this time.

“Based on evidence, or the lack thereof, it appears he has just walked away from his life in Bellevue,” Mangione said. “Hopefully that’s just temporary, but who knows what he’s doing right now.”

Mangione said this kind of case isn’t an extremely unusual one. He emphasized that Wekesa is not in trouble, or wanted in connection with any crimes. The police department simply wants to here from him to make sure he is safe.
