Kids are back in school again and police are reminding motorists to pay attention to limits on driving.
When yellow flashing lights are operating near elementary schools, the speed limit is reduced to 20 mph, so motorists should be prepared to slow down.
In Bellevue, Photo Enforcement Cameras will again be operating during school hours in two school zones:
NE 8th Street and 143rd Avenue NE, Stevenson Elementary School; and SE 8th Street and 143rd Place SE, Lake Hills Elementary School. In addition to the Photo Enforcement Cameras, officers regularly enforce the school zone speed limits.
“The purpose of the enforcement is to enhance driver awareness and improve voluntary compliance with the school zone speed limit, increasing the safety of the children who are present”, stated Captain Denny Bronson.
