Police: Hundreds of fake documents belonging to prolific identity thief recovered

The Bellevue Police Department on Thursday announced several arrests at a condominium where numerous fake IDs, fraudulent credit cards and hundreds of forged checks believed to belong to a prolific identity thief were recovered.

An officer responded to the 800 block of 126th Place Northeast on July 3 after a resident at Hidden Creek Condominiums reported to a construction company seeing stolen roadsigns in an adjacent patio. The company then called police.

During the course of the investigation, one man was arrested after admitting to stealing the signs and three people also at the residence were booked into jail for outstanding arrest warrants, according to police.

One person was found in possession of three fake Washington ID cards, but another 39 IDs and licenses were found inside the residence following execution of a search warrant. The search also recovered 67 fraudulent credit cards, 28 false government IDs, seven false Social Security cards and several hundred forged checks, police state. Victims are believed to be those who either had their mail stolen or vehicles broken into by the subjects, and police are continuing efforts to contact all of those affected.
