Overlake Service League holding membership drive

Overlake Service League is seeking Bellevue residents to join the organization.

“We have always welcomed anyone who wants to join OSL but this year, because the needs are so great, we are making a special effort to expand our Friends of the League membership by reaching out through the media,” said Joan Valaas, President of OSL.

The membership drive will continue through July.

Founded in 1911, Overlake Service League works with the Bellevue community to provide assistance to families, helping with their immediate needs as well as offering programs that build better futures.

OSL’s programs include: Breaktime/Mealtime, which provides meals for low-income children during school breaks, Adopt-A-Family, which gives low-income families holiday gifts and food, and Clothes for Kids/Caring for Youth, a program which helps with clothing needs and provides summer school and summer camp assistance. OSL also awards scholarships and offers mentoring programs as well as partnering with adults seeking higher education.

“Being a member of Overlake Service League is tremendously rewarding,” said Marilyn Herzberg, OSL Board Member. “I know I am directly helping people in our Bellevue community. We have over 300 active volunteers in our organization and no matter what your interest or passion, you can help someone in someway and, the volunteer opportunities are fun as well as rewarding.”

Those interested in joining Overlake Service League can call 425-451-1175 or visit their web site at www.overlakeserviceleague.org. Tax deductible dues are $25 annually.
