“Our remodeling project has completely transformed our Childbirth Center with updated interiors and furnishings as well as some important equipment upgrades for our newborns,” said Marcia Soderling, Overlake director of women’s services. “The result is a more welcoming and comfortable environment for the more than 4,000 families we care for each year through their childbirth experience.”
The entire Childbirth Center including the lobby and waiting area and a total of 12 labor and delivery rooms, 28 mother and baby rooms and two operating rooms were remodeled. State-of-the-art respiratory equipment was also added to the labor and delivery rooms.
In addition, a dedicated triage area was added for women in early stages of labor. This allows expectant mothers to come in for an assessment in a relaxed environment equipped with spa chairs and beds to determine if they are ready to deliver, require additional care or simply need reassurance before being admitted to a labor and delivery room.
Funding for the project was made possible with support from the Overlake Hospital Foundation and Auxiliaries and donations from The Norcliffe Foundation and the D.V. and Ida McEachern Charitable Trust.
