Overlake Hospital hosts Eastside Vitality community health fair

Overlake Hospital Medical Center will hold a community health fair, entitled Eastside Vitality, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, in the PACCAR Education Center on the Overlake campus. The free event is designed for individuals of all ages and families.

Eastside Vitality will offer a variety of free health screenings including osteoporosis heel screening (must be 40 years or older), blood pressure checks, cholesterol screening (limited to 160 participants), skin cancer spot checks, stroke risk assessment and carotid screening for patients at high risk for stroke.

In addition, mini health seminars will be offered each hour on topics ranging from breast cancer and heart health to Seasonal Affective Disorder and staying healthy in winter.

Attendees also can visit information booths, talk with medical experts about cancer care, diabetes, nutrition and orthopedics, receive balance assessments by Overlake physical therapists, view CPR and AED demonstrations and receive free giveaways.

A special kid zone features plenty of activities and a new twist on an old favorite: “The Pulse is Right” along with a fitness area that will challenge and entertain kids.

“Our newly remodeled PACCAR Education Center gave us the perfect opportunity to hold a large community health event and invite the public in for some valuable health information, free screenings and a fun afternoon,” said Patrick Moody, Director of Marketing, Public Relations and Community Education. “And the start of the year is also a great time to help people renew their commitment to preventive care and maintaining their health.”

Free parking for the event is available in Overlake’s North Parking Garage. For full event details, the public can visit www.overlakehospital.org/eastsidevitality.
