People with disabilities can share their experiences about accessibility in Bellevue and learn about available services at an open house at City Hall on Wednesday, April 29, 4-7 p.m.

“ADA Accessibility in Bellevue” will take place on the first-floor concourse. Comments at the open house will help identify what is working and where barriers to city programs and facilities limit participation.

The city will use the information when it prioritizes planned improvements in its ADA transition plan. The plan guides Bellevue’s efforts comply with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Open house attendees also will be able to:

Attend presentations on products and services, sign up for programs offered by Bellevue Parks & Community Services, talk with representatives from community groups and learn how technology can help in navigating through construction zones;

Complete an accessibility survey, at the open house or on an online survey form which will be available from April 27 to May 15 at http://www.bellevuewa.gov/accessibility_intro.htm.

Play a hole of miniature golf, check out an assisted listening device in the Council Chambers or use an interactive mapping system to scout accessible routes and zoom in on potential travel obstacles.

Bellevue City Hall is wheelchair-accessible and American Sign Language interpretation will be available at the open house. Free parking for people visiting City Hall is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Bellevue Transit Center is located a block from City Hall.
