An established Bellevue camera store was burglarized for the second time in less than five weeks early Tuesday morning.

Omega Photo co-owner Larry Meece arrived at his shop around 9 a.m. to find that a thief had gained access to his business, once again by cutting through the wall of a vacant rental space next door.

The store was last burglarized on Feb. 25.

None of the glass display cases inside the shop were smashed this time around, but their sliding doors were removed. One had its lock broken off.

Meece estimates that over $25,000 in merchandise, mostly cameras and lenses, is missing from the store.

“It’s very emotional,” said Barbara Klempnow, the shop’s other owner. “It’s very taxing to us and our staff.

“We were in the middle of doing our fourth-quarter inventory.”

The owners say they are taking extra precautions to prevent more break-ins, but they would not discuss specifics. They still haven’t received money from their insurance company for the previous burglary.
