Obituary | Robert Maynard Buck

Robert Maynard Buck, a former orchestra teacher in the Bellevue School District, died February 16, 2009 in Kirkland. He was 91.

Mr. Buck was born on March 21, 1917 in Brentford, S.D., William Pearl Buck and May Whitworth. On August 5, 1940, he married Helen Mildred Nider in Wagner, S.D.

In 1961, they moved their family from Michigan where he pursued his career as an orchestra teacher for the Bellevue School District until his retirement.

He was also an cellist, and played for the Seattle Symphony. Mr. Buck was a member of St. Joseph Church of Issaquah and St. Madeline Sophie Church of Bellevue.

Survivors include daughters: Barbara Alberts, Diane Friend, Peggy Hugdahl, Laura Gilliam; sons: Robert, Allen, Denny, Doug, and Gordon Buck; 13 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife on Nov. 7, 2004.

A memorial service was held on Feb. 18, 2009 at Flintofts Funeral Home and Crematory. A committal service followed at Upper Hillside Cemetery in Issaquah.
