Newport Hoops go pink on Friday | Games to raise money for cancer fund

Newport High School Girls Hoops will host its first Breast Cancer Awareness night/knight on Jan. 22 with all funds collected donated to the Kay Yow Cancer fund. The fund is named for a North Carolina basketball coach who died last year.

Newport plays Eastlake boys and girls that night in four games. The evening will include free T-shirts and lots of give-a-ways. Students have been “pink-afying” the gym all week.

The games are as follows:

3:30 p.m. JV girls, 5 p.m. JV boys, 6:30 p.m. Varsity girls, 8 p.m. Varsity boys.

Prices are $6 for adults, $4 for children K-8th grade, or for non-Newport High School students with their ASB cards. Pre-schoolers are free as are Seniors age 62 and older. Newport High School students are admitted free with their ASB cards.
