Newcastle to celebrate 15 years

The city of Newcastle will mark its 15th birthday when community members gather for the annual Newcastle Days celebration at Lake Boren Park on September 12-13. The two day celebration is free to the public and showcases art, service, and the community spirit of Newcastle.

Lance Lambert of the Vintage Vehicle Show returns to emcee the festival which includes live bands, dance performances, arts and crafts activities, and plenty of food. This year’s entertainment lineup includes Gin Betty! (Country/Rock), Union Jack (Rolling Stones Tribute Band), the Fabulous Roof Shakers (Blues, R&B, classic Soul), 2112 (Rush Tribute Band), Bad Habit (Rock), and the Freckles Brown Band (Country/Rock/Americana, R&B, Motown).

The kids will be entertained with the likes of Cowboy Buck and Elizabeth, along with Ronald McDonald. Zaphara’s Middle Eastern Dance Troupe and magician Kevin Wolfe make return appearances this year. Lang’s Pony Rides will once again be on hand, and the kids will also enjoy inflatable toys.

In addition to hosting Newcastle Days, Lambert will also preside over the annual Custom & Classic Car Show on September 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration opens at 10 a.m. that day and is free. It will be “first come, first park.” Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 entries. Trophies and prizes will also be awarded.
