Newcastle fire displaces four

A residential fire in Newcastle displaced a family of four shortly after midnight Thursday, according to a press release from the Bellevue Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the single family home on the 7000 block of 123 Avenue SE Newcastle at 12:22 a.m. The flames extended from outside the home up to the attic. The four residents were found outside of the home.

Four engine and two ladder companies brought the fire under control in under a half-hour. No injuries were reported from the family or firefighters. American Red Cross responded to assist the family with immediate housing and support.

Damage is estimated at $80,000. No specific cause has yet been identified in the ongoing investigation.
