The second of six workshops offering tips on creating and maintaining vibrant neighborhoods in Bellevue will focus on communication.

The meeting, with a keynote address by former Seattle Times columnist Sherry Grindeland, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13 at City Hall.

Grindeland, media relations coordinator with Evergreen Healthcare Systems and a longtime community leader, will focus on the communication tools that work. Regular, clear communication keeps neighbors involved.

Grindeland will facilitate a panel discussion on effective modes of communication, including newsletters, online forums and websites. Neighborhood leaders Gina Milano of Wilburton, Eric Dawes of Horizon Crest and Joe Rosmann of Surrey Downs will participate.

Like all of the Great Community workshops, this one will be 7 to 9 p.m., in Room 1E-108, and start with a “meet-and-mingle” session featuring free refreshments.

Sponsored by Bellevue’s Neighborhood Outreach team, each workshop will provide an opportunity for newcomers as well as long-time community leaders and residents to meet one another, sharpen their leadership skills, learn new things and exchange ideas.

Each workshop focuses on a different topic and features a keynote speaker as well as neighborhood leaders and city staff. Attendees may choose to attend single workshops or the entire series:

Feb. 5: Making Your Voice Count: Presenting Views to Boards and Commissions
