An apple a day … : A subject began pounding on windows at a childcare business at Northeast 12th Street and Bellevue Way, scaring the staff. The business locked their doors for the safety of the children. The subject left, then stole an apple from a nearby restaurant. Officers located him and observed that he likely has mental issues, but he declined to go to the hospital.

Student group threatened: A student group at Interlake High School received email threats of violence and cancelled their next meeting as a precaution. Several officers showed their presence at the school, but no problems were noted and the threat does not appear to be credible.

Cosmetics crime: Three suspects stole approximately $2,000 worth of make-up from a store in the 4100 block of Factoria Blvd SE. They then attempted to steal from a store in Crossroads, but staff called 911 and officers located the group trying to flee.

Sept. 28

Fugitive found: An officer pulled over a driver on Northeast 8th Street for a traffic violation. He claimed to be having a medical incident, but at the hospital, it was discovered that he was a fugitive from Oregon with a parole violation for a sex crime. He was released from the hospital and taken to jail.

Cell phone scam: The victim received a call on his cell phone from a “911” phone number. When he answered, the caller stated that he had failed to registere for a “national ID” and would need to pay a fee or be reported to Immigration Services. The victim agreed to pay the fee by purchasing iTunes gift cards and providing the caller with the serial numbers on the cards. He later realized he had been scammed.

Student squabble: Several students threatened to “jump” another student based on an argument over comments one made about the other’s girlfriend. The school resource officer investigated this and learned it started back in May. The officer spoke with the involved parties and their parents and resolved the dispute.

Taxes trick: The victim was scammed into paying giving $300 worth of iTunes gift cards to an unknown suspect when the suspect told her she had a warrant for not paying her taxes.

Sept. 30

Handcuffed without a helmet: Officers stopped a subject for riding a bike without a helmet. The subject gave a name and it was discovered there was a felony warrant out for his arrest. He was placed into handcuffs, but bolted. He was apprehended, but not before attempting to discard a small bag of heroin.
