Mae Parkin Sloman, a long-time Bellevue resident, passed away on Oct. 2, 2010. She was 92.
Mrs. Sloman was born Jan. 2, 1918 in Kopiah, WA., the third of five children of J. George and Angeline Parkin. She was raised mainly in western Washington.
She graduated from UW in 1940 with a major in physical education. During World War II, she met and married Army Major Mark J. Sloman of New York City and they subsequently had two daughters.
After retiring from Asa Mercer Junior High at age 66, Mrs. Sloman spent the next 23 years working full time as a volunteer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Alice Parkin, Wilbur Parkin, and Isabelle Bouchard; and her son-in-law, Alvin Lloyd.
Survivors include her sister, Mazie Rector; daughters Carol Sloman and Margo Lloyd; son-in-law Mark Nolan; and a grandson, great-grandson and other family members.
A memorial service will be held on Nov. 13, at 1 p.m. at The Lodge of Arbor Village at Kent, 24121 116th Ave. S.E., Kent, WA.
The family suggests memorial donations to a food bank of their choice.
