Luncheons raise $450,000 for Washington Women in Need

Washington Women In Need (WWIN) raised $450,000 at its annual spring luncheons held in Seattle and Bellevue. The funding will be used to provide grants for education and health care to low-income women in Washington.

“The 2009 Seattle and Bellevue luncheons were a resounding success because of the over 1,000 attendees who chose to imagine the possibilities for low income women in Washington – one woman at a time,” said Helena Stephens, President of the Board of Directors. “We are so grateful for the strong community support of our overall goal of empowering women to achieve wellness and create futures for themselves, their families and our communities.”

The Bellevue luncheon took place on April 23 and was emceed by KING 5 Television anchor Lori Matsukawa. The event featured a video highlighting past recipients of WWIN grants.

The WWIN mission is to improve the lives of low-income women in Washington through financial assistance for education and health care for women. The nonprofit provides funding to approximately 300 new women each year, and has funded more than 4,300 women since its founding in 1992.
