Local chefs wanted for national Safeway competition

Safeway is holding a national competition for chefs to compete in a job with the Safeway Culinary Kitchens. The winner will have their recipe included in a line of food to be sold in Safeway nationwide. Additionally, the winner will be awarded a full-time position at the Safeway Culinary Kitchens think tank. The second-place winner will take home a $2,000 prize, and third-place will take home $1,000.

The winner will have their recipe included in a line of food to be sold in Safeway nationwide. Additionally, he or she will be awarded a full-time position at the Safeway Culinary Kitchens think tank. The second-place winner will take home a $2,000 prize, and third-place will take home $1,000.

The competition will culminate in a final cook-off at the Safeway Culinary Kitchens in Pleasanton, Calif. May 15 where chefs will cook original skillet meals.

Executive Chef Alexandra Guarnaschelli, who appears on Food Network‘s “Chopped” and “Iron Chef,” will join a judging panel of Safeway chefs and executives to select the winner.

Safeway will be hosting a regional cook-off at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Tukwila (360 Corporate Drive N) April 25.
