Key voter registration deadline July 8 for primary election

Monday, July 8 is the deadline to register to vote or update voter registration information in time for the Aug. 6 primary election. King County Elections will mail primary ballots to all registered voters on July 17.

Voters can check to make sure their registration information is current by by going online,  by calling the Voter Hotline at 206-296-VOTE (8683), visiting the county elections office at 919 SW Grady Way, Renton from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays or at the Voter Registration Annex, 500 Fourth Ave., Room 311, Seattle from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-4:30 p.m. weekdays

Registering to vote can be done online, by downloading a registration form and mailing it in, or in person at the Voter Annexation Annex.

In order to register to vote, a person must be:

· 18 years old by election day (Aug. 6)

· A United States citizen

· A legal resident of the state of Washington

· Not under the authority of the Department of Corrections
