Jubilee REACH is seeking volunteers for its annual service day where people help local teachers prepare for the new school year and help homeowners fix up their houses.
Nine elementary schools are scheduled for help.
The fix-up, painting work will involve over 1,500 volunteers working on Aug. 25 to help local teachers in over 125 classrooms prepare their classrooms, beautify their buildings and help teachers prepare for the new school year. Five of the nine elementary schools being served are Title 1 Schools. The effort is coordinated by Jubilee REACH.
The service day also will see volunteers helping individuals improve the appearance and safety of their homes and neighborhoods. Jubilee Reach will plan, coordinate and donate materials and services to match homeowner’s needs and requests. Twelve to 20 homes will be improved on Aug. 25.
On Aug. 26, local churches will come together in Bellevue to worship as one to celebrate the event. The gathering will be from 9:45-11 a.m. in Bellevue’s Downtown Park. All churches are welcome to worship, celebrate and give thanks for the result of working together to improve community. Guest speaker is Eugene Cho.
This marks the eighth year in which volunteers for Jubilee Service Day have worked in the Bellevue elementary schools helping teachers prepare their classrooms for eight years. It is the sixth year of the community partnership between Jubilee REACH, the City of Bellevue, homeowners, and local businesses to help individuals improve their homes.
Those interested in lending a hand by volunteering their talents, expertise or materials should contact Jubilee REACH. The public also is invited to attend the park worship service.
The mission of Jubilee REACH is to connect local schools, businesses, service organizations, government and the church community to build interdependent, sustainable and productive lives.
