Jacksons Food Stores are holding a “Give the Gift of Peace” campaign to raise awareness and money for domestic violence prevention. The Bellevue Jacksons stores (the convenient stores attached to Shell gas stations) are located on Northeast Eighth Street and 150th Avenue Southeast.

The holiday season campaign runs through Dec. 25.

Contributions can be made in increments of $1, $5 or $10. At the end of the campaign, Jacksons Chief Executive Officer, John Jackson, will match Jacksons Food Stores customer contributions dollar for dollar up to $75,000 with all the proceeds going to the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

“We appreciate Jacksons customer support for the past 10 years in the cause toward preventing and ending domestic violence in our communities,” said Jackson. “Together, we have made a difference. Let’s continue the effort with the 11th annual ‘Give the Gift of Peace’ campaign.”

The Washington campaign began in 2009, and customers have contributed by purchasing paper doves at Jacksons Food Stores. During the 2013 campaign, Washington Jacksons Food Stores customers contributed over $17,000 resulting in over $33,000 in donations, including Jacksons’ dollar for dollar match. Washington donations have resulted in over $170,000 over the five years.

The Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence was founded in 1990 by survivors of domestic violence and their allies. It is a nonprofit network of over 70 domestic violence advocacy programs across the state of Washington.
