Bellevue’s International School Titan Robotics Club traveled to St. Louis, MO, April 26-28 to compete in the 2012 FIRST Robotics World Championships. The club qualified for the championships with their winning alliance at the FIRST Robotics Cascade Regional on March 24.
“Our robot performed really well at regionals,” said International School junior and robot driver, Da-Hee Im. “The mechanical, electrical and software teams did great work to get us here.”
The regional competition required teams to design an all-star basketball robot that demonstrates accuracy, agility and balance. The competition consisted of ever-changing three-team alliances with robots designed to shoot and defend baskets, rebound balls and balance on “seesaw” bridges.
“I am so proud of this team,” said Amy McIvor, Lead Mentor. “The kids worked really hard to get us ready. We are a small team, so everyone put in long hours to build and program the robot.”
The club was supported by The Boeing Company, Western Integrated Technologies, International School PTSA, Microsoft Store, Center for Advanced Manufacturing Puget Sound, MB Metals, Coinstar, Bellevue Schools Foundation, Bauer Evans and International School ASB.
