The city of Bellevue has launched an interactive website featuring a house where kids can play while learning how to reduce their carbon footprint. The project, at www.bellevuewa.gov/yetihouse, targets fourth, fifth and sixth grades.
Users can find the colorful house of Carbon Yeti, a large, hairy creature learning to reduce its
impact on the environment. With bouncy music in the background, visitors can click on
different rooms and put together puzzles, play environmental games, calculate their carbon footprint and submit a Smaller Footprint Pledge online.
A playful part of the city’s environmental stewardship initiative, the cartoon Carbon Yeti was
introduced in 2008 as part of a school outreach program, featured in displays and presentations.
