Lyndon Heywood has announced his candidacy for Bellevue City Council Position 7, adding primary competition to Jennifer Robertson’s reelection bid.

The Lake Hills resident, in his campaign release, states his reasons for running for city council are to reform the election process, increase neighborhood participation in government and improve cooperation with other Eastside cities, if elected.

Heywood is vice chairman of the Ped-Bike Advisory Committee for the city of Redmond, a Cascade Bike Club Connect Eastside Group member and involved with the Lake Hills Neighborhood Association, according to his release.

Heywood ran for election to the Bellevue City Council against Councilmember Conrad Lee in Position 2 in 2013.

Robertson is running for reelection to Position 7, now up against both Heywood and Bill Hirt in the August primary. Hirt ran for election to Position 4 against Kevin Wallace in 2013.
