Heating bill assistance for low-income households still available

Assistance with paying heating bills is still available for eligible low income households in east King County through the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), administered by Hopelink.

Assistance with paying heating bills is still available for eligible low income households in east King County through the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), administered by Hopelink.

Homeowners or renters who need help but have not yet applied for assistance are encouraged to contact Hopelink as soon as possible at 1-800-348-7144 to schedule an appointment.

Depending on income and household size, a qualified low-income recipient can receive up to $1,000 in Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program bill credits. For a family of four, the income cap is $2,297 per month.

Applications for the program for this year will be taken through August 31, 2010, or until the funds run out.
