Captain John Anderson, who owned many of the steamers on Lake Washington, purchased the Elsinore on Puget Sound in 1901. In the winter of 1901 – 1902, he brought her to Lake Washington via the Duwamish and Black Rivers. (In those days the rivers were much higher, and one could take a boat from the Duwamish all the way to Lake Washington.) Anderson used the Elsinore as an excursion steamer, a touring boat to show visitors the sights of Lake Washington.
