Author and former Seattle Police Chief Norm Stamper will deliver the keynote address at LifeWire’s annual Hope Starts Here Breakfast on Thursday at Bellevue’s Meydenbauer Center.

Susannah Frame of KING 5 News and former Attorney General Rob McKenna also will participate.

Stamper will discuss his life as an officer, the challenges law enforcement face in domestic violence situations, and how to make sure that those affected have help.

“Throughout my cop career I championed the cause of domestic violence as law enforcement’s top priority – ahead of homicide, robbery, even domestic terrorism,” Stamper said. “Why? Because violence in the home (spousal assault, child and elder abuse) is arguably the antecedent for all other forms of violence in our society.”

LifeWire success story, university student and victim’s right advocate, Kahley, will share her story.

LifeWire will be honoring Brinette Rounds and Oak Street Law Group, PLLC as Corporate Partner of the Year. Rounds, a LifeWire board member, has helped LifeWire assist thousands of victims of domestic violence. LifeWire also will be honoring Berntson Porter & Company, PLLC as Volunteer Team of the Year for their volunteer work helping the families and children at LifeWire.
