Election season kicks off Monday; Bellevue to choose senator, four reps

The political season begins in ernest on Monday, June 2 as candidates begin filing for elective office. The in-person filing period ends on Friday, June 6 at 5 p.m. Online filing ends an hour earlier.

It will be a busy season. Offices from president to congressional seats are up for election. In the state, the governor’s office and other statewide offices will be on the ballot, plus a number of local legislative seats.

Locally, Bellevue-area voters will decide on a senator and two representatives in the 41st Legislative District and two representatives in the 48th Legislative District.

Three seats on the state Supreme Court also are up for election along with 52 seats on the King County Superior Court.

Also, a number of city council seats will be on the ballot.

The state primary will be on Tuesday, August 19.

The general election will be on Tuesday, November 4.

To vote in the next election, you must register at least 30 days before Election Day.
